This week in our getting to know you series we spent some time with Jack Davies who is following in his big brothers footsteps.

Jack Davies is one of a number of young players who have broken into the 1st team in recent seasons. He has big boots to fill as the youngest of fours brothers who have all played senior rugby with elder brother Sam being a crowd favorite for many years. Let's hope Jack has not only inherited the brains and good looks for the family but also the rugby skills! A real clubman Jack also manages to also find the time to coach the Women's side and the U16s alongside his playing commitments.

1. My rugby career: I started playing rugby for Trowbridge aged 11 was put straight into the pack playing at number 8. As I got bigger and started to enjoy my food more, I moved from number 8 to second row and then into the front row. When I was 14, I got picked up by Bath Rugby Academy and played there until I was 18. I have also played for Dorset and Wilts RFU U20s in the National Championship and had some very good coaches there. I have played senior rugby for Trowbridge since I was 17 starting in the 3rd XV before quickly moving into 2nds and now in the 1st XV.

2. What is your favourite rugby moment? - One of my proudest moments was playing my first game for Bath which was against Bristol with all my brothers there and my mum. My proudest moment in a Trowbridge shirt was against Beaconsfield in the 18/19 season, to score a pushover try in the last minute to keep us in the league!

3. Who’s your rugby hero? My heroes are my three brothers, Sam, Ross and Thomas, because every Saturday when I was younger, I would go to Green Lane and watch them play and really enjoy it, then I was ball boy for the 1st team for many years and enjoyed watching them play.

4. If you could meet a rugby player, who would it be and why? Joe Marler, one of the funniest players and really enjoyed getting in the oppositions head so I would ask him for tips.

5. If you weren’t a rugby player what would you be and why? Definitely a darts player!

6. Which law of rugby would you change and why? As much as I love scrums, I definitely would speed them up as they do take a long time, for example have scrum clock and say the scrum needs to be completed in 30second just so supported can enjoy the game more.

7. What advice would you give to younger rugby players? Keep fit, stay motivated and always play with a smile on your face.

8. Who inspired you to play rugby? My brothers.

9. What keeps you motivated to keep playing? The feeling you get when you dominate your opposite number in a scrum and win a big scrum penalty, hopefully I can get that feeling again soon.

10. Describe Trowbridge Rugby Club in three words. Best Place Ever.

11. What’s your go to karaoke song? Bohemian Rhapsody.

12. What’s your favourite film? Snatch.

13. You’re cooking for six. What’s on the menu and who’s at your dinner table? Fish and chips and I would invite any front row from the club so we can talk about scrums all night.

Quick fire one word answers:
